Day 7 - Prayers

No matter my day or night I find solace in prayer, I can do it anytime, anyplace, I know it matters. No matter where you fall on the issue of religion I think prayers matter. I pray often. I should pray more often, sometimes I have prayed more. I don't always use a prayer book, sometimes I pray aloud, sometimes I pray silently, sometimes I sing my prayers through worship songs, sometimes I pray scripture from the Bible. I don't think it really matter as long as I pray I think I get along better in this ordinary life I live.

One of the prayer books I use...

 My topics for this day.

I pray on certain topics for a time then I change it up, sometimes I do not use the book for weeks on end, just depends on how I'm feeling! I have also used daily devotions for prayer guides or nothing at all, just depends on how I'm feeling. Another facet of my ordinary life! Happy Sunday to you!

Thursday Thoughts

Hmmmm, what can I say? It's been a week...more death. Unreal the amount of deaths we have seen at this base. I am saddened over and over by these events. Hardest is the children, but loss of life, any life is still devastating. It's not anything you soon let go of, too many of those families faces still play through the video tape in my mind. I wonder about them, how they are doing, what their holiday was like, will be like as they move forward without their loved one.

Thoughts:
  • Tired
  • Ready for the weekend
  • I have a sore left arm :/
  • Eyes better, swelling down PTL!
Not so much from me today. Have many thoughts just haven't really been able to put them into words for the blog. Life is like that sometimes. There are so many emotions and thoughts running all directions in my brain this week I have literally felt exhausted. I even went back to bed yesterday morning for an hour after I had already been up. It was a bad idea, I think I felt worse. Next time I will just have another cuppa joe and keep going.

Have a good Thursday, I'm going to try that's for sure! And be thankful for whatcha got; every time we go through the whole death thing it makes me realize just how good we have it and I don't want to take it for granted. Life is truly fragile, I'm thrilled I have been livin' it this long and pray for many more years to come!

S.P.R.I.N.G. B.R.E.A.K. Vaca :)

Woohoo we are on SpringBreak! LilBlue has been retrieved from the airport and we have made it to the hotel for our first night.

Yes, we brought the board...and yes, we stopped by the office on the way out of town!

The drive west was good, a few scattered raindrops here and there but no serious rain and no heavy traffic until we arrived in downtown H. That was a whole different animal with traffic everywhere. However, it was worth the traffic to retrieve a bag of goodies from Sprinkles! The BIG temptation will come when we come back through...to stop or not to stop again, THAT will be the question.  Already, LOVE the cherry and can't wait to try the strawberry...
LilBlue holdin' da bag :)

Heading out in the morning to go further south, CC for a day or two then on to SPI. Sooooo ready for the beach! For now though chillin a little before getting some dinner, then off to check out the pool and hot tub. Hoping everybody stays healthy. LilBlue is battling something and MiB is having some issues as well...so yeah, praying we all stay well and enjoy and no major worries with health this trip.

Checkin in tomorrow after I go to the beach!

Thursday Thoughts...

Oh, my here we are in the start of another year and what do I want to do? You got it, take off some weight, eat healthier and take time to enjoy life. Seems like that is the story of my life! LOL Yep, once again I am needing to reduce my poundage, maybe it's not once again, maybe it is still...hmmmm, a thought to ponder. I did really well until MiB returned then it was just way over the top with him wanting to eat and enjoy all things USA. Settled in to LA and then the holidays brought on some extra #s. So holidays are over, pounds are still here and they NEED to go. I have mixed emotions, I know I should be better on getting back on the exercise wagon. I am not thrilled that the gym is so far away.  I also know that the weather is really not that big a player here and I should just go walk right out my front door and take my exercise right here where I am. Hmmm, yeah, I just NEED to do it, stop ovethinking it, stop whining, stop procrastinating and DO IT. Okay, that's my plan, DO IT.

Thoughts:
  • Easier to put it on then take it off...
  • Lots of decisions seem to be looming.
  • Excited we had LilBlue and G for the holidays!
I'm off to the Attic this morning! Lots of little projects have been accomplished this week already in the organizing, purging, decluttering departments and it feels good to have less in our space. I know one day we will live in MUCH SMALLER accommodations. I do not want to have too much to rid ourselves of when that time come so my thought was we we will start downsizing now. It's a new adventure some day and that some day may be sooner rather then later, one never knows. Just trusting in God to continue to guide us and give us the wisdom for our future. We shall see, it's exciting and scary all the same :)

31 Days of Military Life ~ Day 17

Monday, Monday...that's all I know, well, I mean I think it's a song but I don't know any more of the words. I know I could google it, you can google anything nowadays and sometimes you really shouldn't but we do... LOL!

Not a lot to report today except that I was up at O dark thirty, okay really it was 4:56 but I like the sound of O dark thirty, hahhaha and on my way with MiB to the office and then to the airport. It is bosses day today and we needed to drop off the acknowledgements before he left town. Honestly, we have had some AWESOME bosses, some really great leaders and I have mostly fond memories of each one, well, there was that one in, oh wait, I will just leave that detail off. So anyway here in LA we have another one of those good guys, who really "get it", who is doing what he can at his level to take care of our Airman, he values the enlisted perspective and is taking some steps to take even better care of our Airman. It's just great to work with good people, so Happy Bosses Day to those who are in that position. And hey, remember you were probably a little guy at one time too so don't forget where or how you got to where you are... and while I don't mind these "days" I just think it's a Hallmark ploy to sell more greeting cards. I mean we have a a"DAY" for everything, secretaries day, bosses day, friendship day, sweetest day, earth day, the old standbys of mothers/fathers and valentines day of course. However, it's those other ones that get me...I mean really?

So MiB is on the East coast at a leadership conference this week, which leaves me to hold down the fort on my own. I am good with that and hope it is uneventful. So far, so good and we are not even 24 hours in. Even though I did get a surprise phone call from my cousin and it was neat to chat, it's been a while. She shared some crummy news though...praying for another cousin who is going through a rough patch and hope it all works out. I have a pretty light week if you compare it to the last two, which is kind of nice, then it gets going again, but I am not going to think about that right now!

Hope you have a great Monday, Monday...I am! And if you are looking for blogs with a lot better reading then mine check out all the other 31 day-ers here! There are some really good reads and ideas out there! Here are a couple I am enjoying...ONE and TWO and really two is one I have on the side of my page that I read all the time anyway, so I guess that's kind of cheating, but whatever, THREE, FOUR and that's enough from me, click around and find some that you like too!

New Runners!!!

Okay, they are new running shoes, but let's face it since it has been so hot I have been doing more walking then running...nevertheless I needed some new shoes, so while I was in the big O I went to my favorite running store and procured a new pair! They are my favorite brand but this time since I am doing way less running I did not go with the wave creation I went with the wave rider. It will serve me just fine for the walking I am doing much more then running. I like the color this year as blue is one of my favs!

I did use them the past two days and they are not as cushoiny as my creations but they work good, I even ran a little in them, they work well for that too.

MiB also got new running shoes and I sent him some new inserts and while we are not running together, we really never have as he is on a whole different level then I, I always think about him while I am running or walking and pray for him, his day, his leadership, his Airmen, her everything. I also pray for my family, friends and all that is on my mind. I am most often a solo walker/runner and it provides me with a great opportunity to pray.

Enough from me, I'm rambling, just wanted to show off my new runners :)

Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down

That was the "what's on your mind" statement I just posted on FB a few minutes ago...really, it's not totally true, but it just sounded right since it is Monday, it is raining and I happen to be down today.

A late night phone call, lots of tears and more late night phone calls and a few texts later and it's a new day...

But the lingering thoughts of what is the outcome really going to be are swirling around my head this morning. I have been, as A would say, "close to tears" all morning. It all started with several phone calls from lil'blue last week who is stressing over school. So much so that she is emotionally overwrought during most of our conversations, so much so, that it rips my guts out to even answer the phone when I see that she is calling. She is as some would say, having a rough go. What can a mom do when she is 1400 miles away? Pray...pray without ceasing as we are told this in Thessalonians, oh trust me, I have been doing that, no question! Then I saw on one of my other FB friends wall this..."The Lord will keep you from all harm --he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." Psalm 121:7-8 This applies to my child, too. He will keep her from all harm, he will watch over her life and he will watch over her coming and going now and forever. So I find comfort in that, but the reality is I fear for her, for her loneliness, for her dislike of college, for, well, for a lot more reasons then I shall write about to protect her privacy. But let's just say, I would desperately covet your prayers for her, as I feel so far away and unable to physically lessen her worries. I pray that you would remember her as you pray that she finds comfort and an earthly friend to help brighten her days at school. That she would continue to seek out friendships and not retreat to the solitary space of her room; that she see God in the flesh through someone who she crosses paths with, that she is able to spot His hand of mercy, that He radiantly shine upon her today and each day with His favor in her classes.

She is 19 years old, I have to allow her to make choices, to do things in her own way, she must. I cannot always step in to solve things for her, to make her choices. I soooo want her to make decisions (good ones but I know there will be some not so good ones as well), it is part of the maturing process, right?, it is part of the whole becoming an adult. However, it is NOT at all easy to see and especially through phone calls that are tear filled. So thank you for prayers said from a mom who loves her child and is watching from afar as she struggles to successfully find her way on a road that seems to always be uphill,
